Downtown NYC private practice seeks creative, ambitious, curious psychotherapist

TriBeCa Therapy is a progressive psychotherapy practice in lower Manhattan, NYC serving a diverse clientele from Downtown neighborhoods and the broader NYC area. We provide exceptional short-term individual and longer-term group therapy, specializing in collaborative, non-diagnostic and post-modern approaches to helping creative people create their lives.

The Position

A new therapist will begin on a part-time, fee-for-service basis, participating in building the practice through clinical work, including short-term psychotherapy and group co-therapy assignments; group/ collaborative supervision; and practice building responsibilities.

Interested?

Prospective applicants must possess a current New York State license to practice psychotherapy (LMSW, LCSW, MFT, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling).

Of particular importance in a successful match for the practice is an appreciation of the progressive methodology practiced at TriBeCa Therapy, as well as a passion for collaboration and for learning and developing a methodology that is in critical discourse with many of the fundamental assumptions of historical and contemporary psychology.

An introduction to this methodology can be appreciated upon browsing the archives of the tribecatherapy.com website. Additionally, a brief introduction is included below:

Therapeutic Methodology

Fundamental to understanding the therapeutic approach cultivated at TriBeCa Therapy is recognition that a broad diversity of points of view, not just in clinical training, but also in life experience provides a rich context in which to co-create both a specific therapeutic treatment as well as a group psychotherapy practice on the whole.

Further, there is a recognition that current models of psychotherapy, while providing much help to many, are insufficient, and too often stigmatizing, marginalizing and limiting to the very growth they intend to create. Rather than imposing a new model, the practice of therapy at TriBeCa Therapy is seen as an attempt to continuously co-create the therapy with everyone involved, including patients and clinicians in this continual process.

The application process should be seen less as “filling a vacancy” than as a search for an excellent fit.
