We don’t push medications and we don’t prescribe (only a Medical Doctor or Nurse Practitioner can do that), but we have many patients who take them and find them very helpful. We work with a number of excellent psychiatrists, with whom we can coordinate an evaluation to decide if medication is the way to go, and with whom we often continue to work to ensure the treatment is well coordinated.
We’re not pro or con with psychiatric medications; they can be very helpful. They aren’t a substitute for developing the skill of building a life—but sometimes, people are in a place where it’s hard for them to get going, and medication can help them feel better in order to get started.
