Therapy that doesn't suck

Therapy doesn't have to suck. So why, so often, does it? Too much of the time therapists get stuck in diagnosing and defining "problems" rather than staying focused on the goal--helping you (your child, your relationship or your family) live a bigger, better life.

We've helped hundreds of kids and families, teens, couples and adults get serious help with sadness and depression; anxiety and stress; anger; relationship challenges; professional growth; raising kids and more--without placing them in a diagnostic box.

Serious therapy, with a sense of humor

While the problems we deal with are surely serious business, and often accompanied with a good deal of sadness and pain, great therapy doesn't have to be all doom and gloom. After all, isn't the point to get better, grow and create more happiness? Couldn't that come with a sense of humor? At TriBeCa Therapy we work hard to create therapy that's active, engaging and something to look forward to--even when the work at hand is painful.

Don't think you're creative? Nonsense.

It's not an accident that all of our therapists have at least some background as artists, musicians, writers or performers. Many of our patients have these attributes as well, but our passion is for helping everyone--even those who don't think of themselves as "creatives"--unleash their creative capacity for living a better life.

It is fundamental to what it means to be human that we are creative. It is our creativity that brought us out of the caves, to discover fire and make tools, to build cities and monuments. It is that very creativity that is needed in our work to build careers and relationships, raise children, and to recover from emotional pain. So often when we get stuck with these and other of life's tasks our creativity is stifled. We need help to get creatively unstuck!

Emotional problems are creativity problems

For us, therapy is a partnership. We bring our expertise at living life but also help you reconnect with and make more powerful use of your own creativity to the challenge of helping you live better, work better and feel better.

Get off the couch!

One thing you won't find in our TriBeCa office is a couch. Why? Couches are for lounging (or naps), not for the serious business of helping you feel better. Day one we'll roll up our sleeves and get to work. You might even have some fun in the process.
